Navigating Weight Loss with Zepbound: A First-Hand Experience

Hello everybody! This week, we’re diving into the journey of transitioning to Zepbound, a medication used for weight management. Our familiar guest, John, shares his firsthand experience with Zepbound and how it has impacted his health and lifestyle.

First Impressions on Zepbound

John began his week with Zepbound amidst a busy family reunion in Texas. Initially, he had been on Mounjaro but switched to Zepbound due to supply issues and a plateau in his weight loss journey. He noted, “You only have your first week on Zepbound one time,” and was eager to share his experiences.

Challenges and Adjustments

John faced some challenges before starting Zepbound. He experienced a weight gain of about 13 pounds during a four-and-a-half-week period without his medication. This setback was primarily due to supply issues with Mounjaro. However, after discussing with his endocrinologist, John transitioned to Zepbound at a 7.5 mg dose, which proved to be a pivotal change in his journey.

The Impact of Zepbound – Side Effects

Upon starting Zepbound, John observed several positive changes. His cravings for sugar significantly decreased, making it easier for him to avoid processed sugars and stick to healthier food choices like fruits and vegetables. He mentioned, “I still have some cravings for sugar, but I’ve gotten off sugar other than just whatever’s incidental.”

One notable side effect John experienced was mild nausea and stomach unease, which also helped him control his food intake. This queasiness discouraged overeating and helped him manage his diet more effectively. John stated, “It definitely discourages food… it’s almost all diet that causes you to gain weight.”

Weight Loss Progress

John saw tangible results in his first week on Zepbound, losing approximately 1.8 pounds. This progress was a significant milestone, considering he had been plateaued for a while. He acknowledged the role of a fat-heavy diet in his past struggles and noted that Zepbound helped him transition to a leaner, healthier diet.

Conclusion and Future Updates

John’s experience with Zepbound highlights its potential benefits for individuals struggling with weight management. His initial week showed promising results, with reduced sugar cravings, better dietary choices, and noticeable weight loss. As John continues his journey with Zepbound, he plans to provide updates on his progress, particularly after the family reunion, a real-life test of his new regimen.

In conclusion, Zepbound appears to be a valuable tool for those seeking to manage their weight effectively. John’s story is a testament to its potential, and we look forward to hearing more about his journey in the coming weeks. 1. John,
Yay so happy for you that you are finally back on Zepbound! Don’t know how you survived a month off of it. I get food noise when I’m on day #6 before next shot so can’t even picture this. I switched over to Semiglutide compound for the past six weeks after doing 8 months on Tirzepatide. Trying to save money now that I’m on maintenance, but I don’t find that even the highest dose is working for me. Not sure if my body is used to the extra GIP help it provides, but I’ve switched Telehealth providers and had my Zoom appointment and getting back on TZ. It’s a much cheaper company. Well done both of you at a family reunion to boot where temptations are everywhere! Loved the video hope you both are having a blast. Bet everyone is marveling at how great you both look 💕

    1. Hey friend! You have me smiling again! Loved all that you said and shared but especially your feedback on Tirzepatide vs. Semaglutide. I think a lot of people are also looking at their options and trying to make important choices. Especially on a good maintenance dose. If you remember my video about Mounjaro vs Wegovy…I did not expect the scale to be so tilted. You are saying what I have heard over and over. Super interesting so thanks for sharing And good luck with your new provider! Typical you with your determination and always being a strong advocate for your health 🙂 hope you have an awesome Wednesday!

  2. So happy for you, John! That small kind of not quite nausea, but not quite nothing is my experience on 10mg every six days (long story how I’m managing that, but will continue until the 10mg is gone, then on to 12.5mg). 10 mg got me heading down again, but 10mg every six days (which ends up being an average dose between 10mg and 12.5mg just made things GO! However, I was feeling so much appetite control, I was ‘a day late’ on my last shot (7 days instead of 6, and totally by accident) and my weight went up for no reason, I was way hungrier, and I was white knuckling at night. Still I managed to lose another pound, but yesterday, I just kept eating baked chicken! Had my 6 day shot today and I will NOT mess up my calendar again.

Took me 6 weeks to hit the high plateau point for this dose, and now I’m climbing that mountain again. Hopefully, the appetite suppresion will get to even all the time like it did before. It surprised my husband how sensitive I was to the effects of getting my dose a day late. Me too. I woke up hungry yesterday and fought the urge to take the shot a day early. I never wake up hungry and I fight night hunger by going to bed and sleeping. Tiredness can make me want to eat. I’m understanding that now.

I am BABBLING. The ‘going to Whataburger’ story pinged me. We almost stopped for fast food the other day because husband had a bunch of appts. Nothing on the menu looked appetizing to me, despite my increased hunger. It all looked gross. But what really stopped me were the prices! My goodness! Are those burgers made of gold? Fast food used to be cheap food. It’s still cheap food, but its expensive cheap food. We went home and I got my husband cottage cheese and fruit and decided I could finish my protein coffee.

I’ve noticed as time goes on in the journey and I’m week 67, the foods I crave have changed. I’ll want a piece of chicken or salmon, perhaps peppers and eggs. Cottage cheese with a little fruit feels like dessert to me. Even bagels do not hold the allure they once did. I find that phenomenon interesting and wondering if you experienced the same. And being off the shot for 5 weeks? I actually might have been breaking into pharmacies at that point. HAHAHHAHA. Honestly, food noise return scares me the most.

The climb to 12.5 by the way is probably more because 10mg every six days isn’t sustainable from an insurance reimbursement standpoint, and also because my fasting blood glucose is getting a little higher. Sigh. I don’t see my endo until…October I think. I’ll have to check.

You and Amy both look great! And you both look happy.

    1. Oh Mindy, you know you captivate me when you write! I really appreciated all of this. I could spend quite a while talking about several parts. But let’s just take a second and talk about food costs 😉 John and I were talking about it last night and how The prices are unbelievable. Of course we had five of us out of town for five days and he was trying to calculate how much he put on the credit card. Nuts! I found it super interesting to read about your shot schedule and your dosage plans and your episodes of hunger. I hate those episodes of hunger for you. I know them well, but I think it’s our familiarity with them that makes us equally hate to hear about other people going through it too. It’s just a different kind of misery! It’s getting late and I’m headed to bed, but I really enjoyed your update! Have a fantastic Wednesday ❤️

  3. So glad to hear your update, John! We’re with you! When I titrated up to 7.5, after so much thought….it really was great! I had wanted to be very cautious about titrating up too quickly as I had read some had done, leaving them with no where to go!

It stopped the hunger and food noise that I had been white-knuckling against, again. I doubted myself, and felt like a weak person for feeling that again.

Then I decided to try it….after all, it’s why there are different doses! I could always go back down to 5.0 if it wasn’t good for me. It gave me the same relief as the 2.5 had been on day 1 of my trek! Such a gift! There is no virtue in suffering! Our medication is a gift!

Then the pharmacy filled my old 5.0 dose by mistake, so I took shot 3 on Sunday. I’m anxiously waiting to get back on the 7.5 dose!

It’s so great to have you and Amy as my guide, helpers, and friends!

    1. While I thoroughly enjoyed reading this update, Randa, I kept thinking about how useful this is for people trying to navigate their weight loss path. Thank you so much for sharing not only how it affected your body, But some of the emotions that went along with it too. That’s one of the most interesting parts, is riding the wave of emotions and feelings and choices as we travel down the Get Healthy Road ◡̈ Thanks for the great comment!
